In fact, Jimi Patterson has worked with several other artists before, including the ones from Mates of State – Jason Hammel and Kori Gardner. The song Palomino, from the album Mountaintops, is a paragon of Patterson’s visual artistry expressed through directing and editing. He animated Hammel and Gardner as they both embark on a journey in an oil-painted world. The two of them continuously climb stairs that take them to the heavens and huge mountains where two martial artists and creepy children dressed in black greet them. In the almost five-minute music video, Hammel and Gardner fight against lions, too.
